STEM

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) has become an essential and exciting part of our everyday teaching and learning at GEPS. Teachers understand that for students to be prepared for life in today's ever-changing and modern world they need to be exposed to learning opportunities that ask them to think logically and creatively. STEM activities at GEPS involve planning, designing and testing, ensuring students are developing the skills of evaluating their own ideas and modifying and refining to ensure success. Students have access to a variety of technology, such as robots, laptops and ipads and participate in weekly STEM lessons that connect to the NSW Science and Technology syllabus. STEM activities are exciting and hands-on and GEPS is proud to be designing quality learning tasks to support our students in their future lives. Just some of the activities students particpate in include using Beebots, Spheros, Minecraft Education, Lego and Green Screen.

Gardening Club

Our garden club helps to maintain our school garden. The garden is located in our outdoor education space and consists of ten raised garden beds filled with seasonal fruit and vegetables as well as bush tucker plants and beautiful flowers. We have a working worm farm and compost and hold regular market days where we sell our produce to the local community.

Debating

Students from Year 5 and 6 are selected to join our school debating team. Our school participates in the Lake Macquarie schools debating competition throughout the year and our team travels to local schools for debating gala days.
